Lufthansa Cargo Looking for Green Ideas: Air Cargo Innovation Campaign

Lufthansa Cargo Innovation CampaignLufthansa Cargo is offering customers the industry’s first-ever tracking app for smartphones. The free app enables forwarders to track the status of their freight shipments, quickly and easily, at any time. As the world’s first cargo carrier, Lufthansa Cargo has developed the system, which is available under the search term “Lufthansa Cargo” in app stores, for use on Blackberry, iPhone and Android devices. 

Simultaneously, Lufthansa Cargo has launched an innovation platform for the airfreight industry. The dedicated online portal – www.innovation.lufthansa-cargo.com – is to be utilized in the coming weeks to develop innovative solutions and future visions for ecological products and processes in the airfreight business. It is addressed principally to airfreight customers as well as logistics experts and academics. Participants can put forward new ideas and approaches for discussion in the forum. The proposals will be evaluated by a jury of experts and prizes awarded for the most innovative suggestions and ideas. 

Lufthansa Cargo will award three winners with a trip to Frankfurt, Germany, where they will get to present their proposals to engineers and management and discuss how their ideas may be implemented. Winners will also receive flight training with a Lufthansa Cargo Flight Captain and up to 25,000 Miles and More Miles. In addition, a Most Valuable Participant will be awarded 25,000 Miles and More Miles, based on activity in the contest, quality of contributions and support for other members. 

The contest is accepting proposals through December 19, 2011. The ideas are posted online where people can review and comment openly. Proposals can cover any aspect within the Lufthansa Air Cargo Supply Chain (Sales, Handling, Transport, Customer Service) that fall within the categories of Green Solutions and/or Add-On Services. Candidates get the opportunity to receive feedback and exposure from people all over the world.
