Introduction
Why does every summer seem hotter than the last one, every flood more devastating than the previous one, and every winter a record breaking one. Over the last few decades, climate change has been taking place too rapidly and all living beings are not able to adapt to it; it has become one of the most serious threat to our existence itself. Human activities should take the credit to disturb the balance of natural systems that is resulting in irreversible impacts.
Climate change involves complex interactions between climatic, environmental, economic, political, institutional, social, and technological processes. Adaptation and mitigation are two important terms that are fundamental in every forum on climate change. The deliberations on adjustment in natural or human systems in response to climate change are crucial to reducing vulnerability. While mitigation discussions should tackle the causes of climate change, adaptation solutions would ease the worry lines. The greater the degree of preparatory adaptation, the less may be the impacts associated with climate change.
A summit of minds and bodies, ideas and action plans, resolutions and affirmations will be a step towards a sustainable society. The capturing, documenting, management, development and application of knowledge gained at the summit will enable the individual to think and decision makers to act.
It is expected that the stimulus generated by these deliberations will propel the individual, the society, and the institutions in reaching a unified vision of safe environment. We believe the focus will change from what is being done to what needs to be done and initiate a globally integrated and locally responsive citizen.
